Bob's Big Book List

Have you ever wondered where your tax dollars go?
A totally useless browsing of the Library of Congress has revealed that I've read the following books.

Browsing through the Library of Congress is fun and easy! (The LOLC is available from 0630-2130 EST) Check it out yourself and tell them Bob sent you.

This list contains 568 entries as of 6 Jun 97.

So, the grand total for 1995: 72 books, and a whole lot of magazines. Not bad for someone that still maintains a life.

Last year was a pretty bad, as far as bookreading goes. Just 33. It was a busy year. I had things to do. I was working late at the office. You know how it is.

Other stuff I read: Utne Reader, The Economist, F&SF, Analog, Asimov's, Money, Scientific American, Dr. Dobb's, PC Magazine and Wired.

It's a wonder that I get anything accomplished.

Logrolling in our time:

David Feldman, author of "Imponderables", has said that my list is cool. He's right, you know. It is cool. I recommend you go out and purchase his book immediately. Heck, buy as many as you want! They'll print more!

Some of you may be thinking to yourself: why would anyone track down how many books he's read and put it on the web? What is he, some kind of psycho? Was he neglected as a child and is now just looking for attention?

Yes, I am!

And with that in mind, I'm proud to announce that this no-frills, no nonsense page is now a part of the Deep Hurting Family. I heartily endorse anything that the nice folks at Deep Hurting may have an opinion on.

And on a lighter note...

The most depressing book I've ever read has got to be "The Coming Plague" by Laurie Garrett. I learned more than I ever thought I'd need to know about Ebola, Lassa, Machupo, Marburg, Hanta and HIV, as well as resistant forms of pneumonia, malaria, E. coli, TB, enterococcus, staph, strep and others. Recommended reading, with extensive bibliography.

Last read: "Sewer, Gas & Electric", Matt Ruff, 20 May-5 Jun 97
